However, his family is of Indian heritage. His parents are Yashvir and Usha Sunak, who migrated to the United Kingdom from India in the 1960s.

Sunak grew up in Southampton and attended Winchester College, an independent boarding school in Hampshire. He excelled academically and was awarded a scholarship to study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) at Lincoln College, University of Oxford.

During his time at Oxford, Sunak was actively involved in various student societies and clubs. He was a member of the Oxford Union, a renowned debating society, and also served as the editor of the student newspaper, Cherwell.

After completing his studies at Oxford, Sunak pursued a successful career in finance. He worked for Goldman Sachs, a global investment banking firm, as an analyst from 2001 to 2004. Later, he joined The Children’s Investment Fund Management, a hedge fund founded by Chris Hohn, where he served as a partner and helped manage the firm’s investments.

Sunak’s entry into politics came in 2015 when he was selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the Richmond (Yorks) constituency in the UK general election. He won the seat and became a Member of Parliament (MP). Since then, he has risen through the ranks and held several ministerial positions.

In February 2020, Sunak was appointed as the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the UK’s finance minister, by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. He became the second-youngest person to hold this position in the last century, after George Osborne.
